BIOGRAPHY

My father, a photographer, gifted me a camera when I was 11. This ignited a lifelong passion and dedication to the craft.

After apprenticing renowned photographer John Gollings, I pursued my professional career in 1996.

My commercial photography practice has since spanned almost three decades, encompassing various disciplines such as portraiture, still life, automotive photography, and rock 'n' roll.

In 2015, I exhibited my first Fine Art series of decaying flowers, ‘Without Water,’ which redefined the third decade of my career and ignited a newfound passion (alongside my commercial work) as an emerging artist.

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect any sales from the show, let alone the volumes I have sold and the publicity it has received. I would have been happy with just the exposure.

With two completely sold-out Limited Editions from the series, "Tulip" and "Anthurium," and almost half of the other Editions sold, I am humbled that people are willing to spend their hard-earned to display a piece of me on their wall. My work now hangs proudly across Australia and abroad, including in Denmark, England, Korea, Norway and Vietnam.

My work has been recognised and showcased in several notable contemporary galleries, including the renowned Black Eye Gallery in Sydney, the Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) in Melbourne, and the esteemed Gippsland Art Gallery in Victoria.

My ongoing visual art practice is inspired by my Japanese heritage, embracing principles that celebrate discipline, creativity and technical craftsmanship. Through my work, I aim to engage viewers and invite them into my world of curiosities and discoveries. Each piece illustrates my personal journey and reflects my artistic vision, showcasing the wonders of creative exploration. With a particular fascination with the micro world and details to be discovered within, my art transcends the digital realm, revealing its true essence when experienced in print on a larger scale.
